Project “Don Diego” extracts only the elements already found within the seabed. No metal or chemical is added during the dredging process. There is no need for infrastructure, given that the aggregate removal is done with a Trailer Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) and mobile auxiliary ships.
There is no impact on water resources. As opposed to land mining, phosphate sand dredging does not require water during its process.
